Last year, to celebrate Opensignal’s 10th anniversary, we ranked the world's operators using our leading measures of the real-world mobile network experience. It was so well received that we’ve chosen to publish the awards again.
For the very first time Opensignal is providing a comprehensive comparison of mobile network experience globally at the operator-level across five key measures of mobile network experience.
In the last six months, WE users’ Video Experience improved from Good to Very Good, while the remaining three operators — Orange, Vodafone and Etisalat placed in the Good category.
When it comes to mobile network experience in Egypt, we have seen something of a two-horse race as shown by a quick look at our latest awards table. We saw a fierce competition between two operators — Vodafone and Orange — with awards split nearly equally. That said, the mobile network experience in Egypt is improving overall, but some of the greatest improvements were observed by users on the other two operators — WE and Etisalat — who also came neck-and-neck on several measures.
In one year mobile Video Experience has significantly improved in 59% of 100 countries analyzed. But the U.S. is lagging behind on mobile video as carriers face a spectrum crunch. Uniquely, Opensignal tests mobile video streaming at scale and does not estimate video experience based on speed tests or other indirect measurements.
In an ongoing tie, Orange and WE just hit the threshold for Good Video Experience, where videos load quickly and with little stalling.
