Global Mobile Network Experience Awards 2020
For the very first time Opensignal is providing a comprehensive comparison of mobile network experience globally at the operator-level across five key measures of mobile network experience.

In this report we examined the mobile network experience on five Malaysian national operators’ networks — Celcom, Maxis, DiGi, U Mobile and Unifi — to see how they fared. We further delved deeper into 12 states and two Federal Territories of Malaysia, comparing the results of these five operators. We also introduced two new metrics in this report for the first time in Malaysia — Games Experience and 4G Coverage Experience.
How Malaysians’ roaming experience in Singapore is affected by their choice of operator
We have analyzed how three measures of the mobile user experience vary between international roamers from Malaysia and domestic users in Singapore.
Southeast Asia: Connecting the dots between economic activity and mobile experience
We found a strong correlation between mobile Download Speed Experience and the GDP per capita of countries across southeast and south Asia. Our approach revealed a completely different landscape compared with looking at Download Speed Experience, Games Experience or other measures of mobile network experience in isolation.

In one year mobile Video Experience has significantly improved in 59% of 100 countries analyzed. But the U.S. is lagging behind on mobile video as carriers face a spectrum crunch. Malaysian users in thinly-populated rural areas connect to 4G just 44% of the time
The increasing population density in urban centers has created a digital divide between thinly and densely populated areas. Opensignal measured our users’ experience across Malaysia and found that a connectivity gap exists between sparsely populated rural areas and densely populated urban areas.
