With our summer U.S. report around the corner, we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight a metric that will feature in OpenSignal's U.S. reports going forward. That metric is upload speed, and it's becoming an increasingly important measure of the consumer mobile data experience. When the 4G age dawned, download speed was king as it determined how quickly we could surf the internet and the quality of mobile video.

Telekom scores a 4G clean sweep of Germany's regions

In our most recent State of Mobile Networks: Germany report, we found Telekom was head and shoulders above its rivals in our metrics. The operator won five out of seven of OpenSignal's awards including the highly-prized 4G download speed and 4G availability categories. Meanwhile, our chart showing our 4G metrics winners in 10 of Germany's biggest cities was largely painted with Deutsche Telekom's signature shade of magenta.

TIM leads Brazilian operators in 4G coverage experience

When it comes to LTE reach, TIM Brasil has its competitors beat on two counts. It not only provided our users with 4G signals the most often but also in the most places. TIM rated highest in OpenSignal's 4G coverage experience metric, as our testers were able to find an LTE connection in 74.4% of the places they frequented in a recent three-month test period. That score was more than 7 percentage points higher than TIM's nearest rival Vivo.
