Privacy Policy - ONX Connect
This Privacy Policy applies solely to users of the ONX Connect application who register with a valid registration key. If you use ONX Connect without registering, your data is governed by the Opensignal Privacy Policy – Apps & Connectivity Assistant available at opensignal.com/privacy-policy-apps-connectivity-assistant.
1. WHO WE ARE
Opensignal Limited (“Opensignal,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates ONX Connect, an enterprise network testing and benchmarking application. ONX Connect is deployed by network operators and internet service providers to conduct in-field network testing, troubleshooting, and performance measurement (“Enterprise Customers”).
ONX Connect is a separate product from the Opensignal consumer mobile applications. Data collected through ONX Connect registered sessions is handled under this Policy and is not governed by the Opensignal consumer Privacy Policy.
Opensignal processes personal data about registered ONX Connect users as a data processor, or service provider, to our Enterprise Customers. When you are a registered user, our Enterprise Customer has authorized you to access ONX Connect. The Enterprise Customer is the data controller and decides how or why personal data is processed. The Enterprise Customer is responsible for providing you with any legally required privacy notices and rights under applicable privacy laws. We provide this Policy as a courtesy to explain our practices, but if you have any questions or requests regarding your personal data, we encourage you to contact the Enterprise Customer who provided you with ONX Connect access.
2. SCOPE OF THIS POLICY
This Policy applies to individuals who use the ONX Connect application and register with a valid registration key provided by our Enterprise Customer, generally an individual’s employer or deployment organisation. It covers personal data collected from the point at which a valid registration key is entered.
Users who do not register remain subject to the Opensignal Privacy Policy – Apps & Connectivity Assessment. The data practices described in this Policy — including the absence of anonymisation prior to sharing — apply only to registered ONX Connect sessions.
3. WHAT DATA ONX CONNECT COLLECTS
When you register with a valid registration key, the following categories of data from your device may be collected through ONX Connect:
Location data
Precise GPS coordinates or similar location information at the time of each network measurement. Where permitted, location data is collected both when the application is in use and when it is running in the background.
Device data
A device identifier (the Resettable ID associated with your application installation), device hardware information including model and manufacturer, operating system version, and sub-component details such as the cellular radio manufacturer and model.
The Resettable ID is generated by Opensignal’s software and allocated to your application installation. It can be reset by uninstalling and reinstalling the application.
Network data
Network type, network operator, cellular and WiFi signal strength and quality, IP address, and the identifiers of connected cell towers and WiFi routers (including BSSID and SSID).
Sensor and device condition data
Data from environmental sensors (where available) including device acceleration, orientation, atmospheric pressure, and light intensity. Internal device conditions including battery temperature and voltage.
App usage and diagnostics
Data on how you use the ONX Connect application and crash reports.
4. HOW ONX CONNECT DATA IS USED
Opensignal uses data collected through ONX Connect registered sessions to provide services to our Enterprise Customers. For information about how our customers use such data, please visit their privacy policies. Typical uses of ONX Connect data by Enterprise Customers include:
• Conducting network testing, benchmarking, and performance measurement.
• Enabling reconciliation of ONX Connect results with the customer’s internal network logs, tracing, and management systems using the device identifier.
• Measuring and analyzing the performance, availability, and signal quality of communication networks.
Opensignal uses personal data collected through ONX Connect registered session as instructed by its customers and as permitted by law. Common uses of such data by Opensignal include:
• Maintaining the security, stability, and technical performance of the ONX Connect platform.
• Meeting our legal obligations and regulatory requirements.
• Performing permitted internal business and operational purposes.
5. HOW ONX CONNECT DATA IS SHARED
As a processor or service provider to our Enterprise Customers, we share ONX Connect data as permitted by our customers and applicable law. Sharing of ONX Connect data may include:
1. Licensed operator. Data collected during a registered session — including your device identifier, precise location, timestamps, and network experience data — is shared with the customer associated with your registration key. This is typically your employer or the company that deployed ONX Connect to you.
2. Service providers. As permitted by our customers, we may share data with third-party service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as cloud storage providers.
3. Legal disclosure. We may disclose data where required by law, court order, or regulatory authority, or to protect our rights, the rights of users, or to prevent fraud or illegal activity.
6. COUNTRY OF PROCESSING
We operate globally. Data collection takes place in the country where the device is used. We store and process data through third-party cloud service providers, predominantly on servers located in the United States of America. When transferring personal data to a country that does not provide an adequate level of protection, we work with our customers to put in place appropriate safeguards including data transfer agreements.
7. YOUR DATA SUBJECT RIGHTS
Depending on applicable law, you may have the rights related to your personal data processed through ONX Connect. Because we handle personal data about registered ONX Connect users as a processor or service provider to our Enterprise Customers, we do not offer users rights related to personal data. Instead, to learn more about rights that may be available to you, please visit our customers’ privacy policies.
8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Policy from time to time, and the updated version of this Policy will be effective upon posting on the Opensignal website. Please check this page to review the most up-to-date version of this Policy.
