Mohamed Abbas is a Principal Analyst at Opensignal, specialising in mobile network experience market insights across the Middle East, Africa, and India (MEAI) region.

Mohamed conducts research into network experience trends, technological advancements, and competitive dynamics. He crafts reports and analyses that help transform complex datasets into actionable insights, driving industry conversations on network experience. These insights help operators, regulators, and industry stakeholders understand the importance of mobile connectivity and performance.

Mohamed joined Opensignal with more than 14 years’ international experience in the telecommunications industry. He has worked with leading telecom vendors across multiple continents, including Huawei, Mavenir, and Intersec. Mohamed has also worked with mobile network operators such as Vodafone Egypt, Telecom Egypt, and Rakuten Mobile.  His expertise covers strategic intelligence, telecom analytics, spectrum evaluation, and data-driven benchmarking.

As a prominent figure in the 5G industry, Mohamed has been recognised as one of the top 50 thought leaders and influencers on LinkedIn in the June 2023 Who’s Who in 5G? Top 50 Influencers to follow list. Additionally, he has been nominated as a key industry opinion leader (KOL) with high credibility and authority on 5G within the industry, as highlighted in the March 2022 “Who’s Who in 5G?” Report by Onalytica.

Mohamed holds a bachelor’s degree in communication, electrical and electronics engineering from Cairo University. He is based in Dubai.
