5G Standalone in Europe:

What Deployment Looks Like on the Ground

23rd September 2026  |  Time: 8:00EST / 13:00BST

Europe's SA rollout is real, but only 11 operators have reached widescale deployment, and 5G signal availability isn't yet producing utilization. On 23th September, Opensignal will have an open dialog with the operators building the networks.

What the data shows
Most European users see a 5G icon on their screen more than 70% of the time. They're connected to 5G for just 14.5% of it and to 5G Standalone for 1.8%.

Five years into Europe's 5G era, what users see and what they're actually connected to have never been further apart.

Opensignal's Principal Analyst, Andrey Popov, will open the session with headline findings from the 5G SA in Europe report, grounding the panel discussion with executives from Ericsson, VMO2, Hutchison Drei Austria, and Free Mobile.

Why attend?

  • Opensignal report: what the data says about SA deployment in Europe
  • Fireside Chat: What separates operators that have committed to 5G Standalone at scale?
  • Operator panel: Deployment stories: there is no single 5G SA playbook in Europe
