Key Findings

Maroc Telecom is the outright winner of all three experiential awards

Maroc Telecom wins the Voice App Experience, Video Experience, and Games Experience awards outright. This means our users across Morocco enjoyed the best available quality of experience on Maroc Telecom's network when using over-the-top (OTT) voice services, when streaming videos or playing multiplayer mobile games.

Maroc Telecom users continue to enjoy the top cellular speeds in Morocco

Once again, Maroc Telecom wins the Download Speed Experience and the Upload Speed Experience awards outright by an impressive margin. Our users on Maroc's network saw average download speeds of 36 Mbps, 16.1 Mbps (81.1%) greater than Inwi and 19.6 Mbps (119.8%) faster than seen on Orange. Likewise, on average, our Maroc Telecom users observed the fastest upload speeds (10.1 Mbps) — at least 3.9 to 5.4 Mbps higher than that seen on Inwi and Orange.

Maroc Telecom and Inwi share the 4G Availability award

Maroc Telecom and Inwi are the joint winners of the 4G Availability award with statistically tied scores of 83.2% and 85.6%, respectively. Meanwhile, Orange followed close behind at 81%. These scores mean smartphone users in the Kingdom of Morocco were able to connect to 4G networks 81%-85.6% of the time, on average.

Maroc Telecom keeps the 4G Coverage Experience award

Once again, Maroc Telecom wins the 4G Coverage Experience award, this time with a score of seven points (out of 10). While 4G Availability assesses the proportion of time 4G users were connected to a 4G network, 4G Coverage Experience analyzes the locations where customers of a network operator received a 4G signal relative to the locations visited by users of all network operators.

Introduction

In our latest look at the Kingdom of Morocco, Maroc Telecom once again wins the lion's share of our awards — successfully defending its six outright wins from our previous report. In addition, this time around, Maroc Telecom also ties with inwi in 4G Availability. Meanwhile, Orange did not secure any win across the seven award categories.

In this report, we have examined the mobile network experience of our users on the three nationwide mobile operators — Maroc Telecom, inwi and Orange — over a period of 90 days beginning on November 1, 2021, and ending on January 29, 2022, to see how they fared.

Opensignal measures the real-world experience of consumers on mobile networks in the places they live, work and travel.

We continually adapt our methodology to best represent the true experience of smartphone users. Therefore, comparisons of the results to past reports should be considered indicative only.

For every metric we calculate statistical confidence intervals indicated on our graphs. When confidence intervals overlap, our measured results are too close to declare a winner. In those cases, we show a statistical draw. For this reason, some metrics have multiple winners.

In our bar graphs we represent confidence intervals as boundaries on either sides of graph bars. In our supporting-metric charts we show confidence intervals as +/- numerical values.
