A Opensignal analisou a experiência com telefonia móvel dos usuários que mudaram para outras operadoras – usuários da Opensignal que utilizam smartphones e mudaram de operadora de telefonia móvel no último trimestre de 2022. Observamos que os usuários que mudaram para outras operadoras ficaram mais tempo sem sinal na operadora anterior, comparado à experiência média de todos os usuários da rede da operadora de telefonia móvel de origem.

Poor network experience drives churn in Brazil

Opensignal analyzed the mobile experience of Leavers — those Opensignal smartphone users who moved to a new mobile operator in the last quarter of 2022. We observed that Leavers spent more time with no signal on their old operator compared with the average experience of all users on their original mobile operator’s network. Looking at the experience of our 5G users before they switched operators, Leavers generally observed slower overall download and upload speeds on their old operator, compared to the network averages.

Mobile Network Experience Across Colombia's major cities

Opensignal has looked at the mobile network experience in seven of Colombia’s cities to compare the local mobile network experience our users had on four national operators — Claro, Movistar, Tigo and WOM. We covered the following Colombian cities: Barranquilla, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Cúcuta and Medellín. 

Switzerland users get faster speeds and better video on 5G than on wifi

In Opensignal’s newest analysis, we looked at the network experience of our smartphone users in Switzerland, when they connected to 4G, 5G and Wifi. Our research demonstrates that our Swiss users saw much faster download and upload speeds connected to 5G than when using Wifi or 4G. Smartphone users also enjoyed a superior video streaming experience on their mobile phones on 5G, compared to Wifi.

Quantifying the new 5G Enhanced services in the US

In an industry first, Opensignal has analyzed U.S. users’ mobile experience when they are connected to premium 5G services on the three U.S. carriers: AT&T’s 5G+, T-Mobile’s Ultra Capacity 5G (5G UC) and Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband (5G UW). For this analysis, we refer to all of these offerings as Enhanced 5G for convenience. These services offer a markedly better experience than 5G based on lower frequency bands, which are often reused from 4G.
