Opensignal analyzed the mobile experience of our Egyptian smartphone users who have never accessed mobile data on a 4G network to understand why they have not used 4G. In this analysis, we call this group of users “3G-only” users.

When it comes to mobile network speeds in Spain, it was something of a two-horse race in our last State of Mobile Networks report. Movistar won our 3G download speed award, Vodafone took both overall speed and 4G upload — but the two drew for our coveted 4G download speed prize. So we drilled down a bit deeper into our 4G download data by looking at their peak speeds, where we discovered another tie between these fierce Iberian rivals.

In 2018, Apple is on the “speed” or “S” year in its normal two-year iPhone update cycle: Apple usually launches a new iPhone design one year, then the next year it keeps the exterior design the same but updates the iPhone’s components to deliver faster performance. Historically, Apple has focused on the speed of its application processor or graphics; we believe it’s now time for Apple to talk about mobile network speeds as well.
