The 5G Experience in APAC’s biggest cities

In this new analysis, Opensignal has analyzed the 5G Experience in 11 of the largest cities in the Asia Pacific region. 5G will eventually become a ubiquitous mobile technology and is traveling down the same path as 4G to offering national service. However, for now 5G comes into its own in urban areas where operators have sought to serve the greatest number of users quickly and have used new 5G mid-band spectrum to help relieve congestion on existing 4G networks.

Opensignalによる最新の分析で5G接続時に日本のユーザーが体感した信号強度が、他の東アジア市場 (香港、韓国、台湾) と比較して大幅に低いことがわかりました。ヨーロッパ米国の事例と同様に、信号出力レベルが低い場合、ユーザーの5G エクスペリエンスがいっそう悪くなることがよくあります。しかし日本の4G信号強度は他の市場と同等でした。これは日本のオペレーターは5Gの導入において日本特有の課題に直面しているということです。

In this new analysis, Opensignal has observed substantially lower signal strength experienced by our users in Japan when connected to 5G, compared with other East Asian markets — Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan. As we have seen in Europe and the U.S. lower signal power levels often mean a worse 5G experience for users.
