The first 5G networks launched in April 2019. Since then, operators in some markets have been investing heavily to increase the geographical extent of their 5G networks. In other markets though 5G is just getting started, or even just about to start.
Regardless of where an operator is with 5G, it’s undeniable that its adoption is accelerating; this makes it even more important to understand the real-world 5G experience and what it means for mobile users.
To aid this understanding — and to celebrate the mobile industry’s collective efforts — Opensignal has again compared users’ 5G mobile network experience by operator to see how operators stack up globally.
Keeping to a similar format to last year’s awards, we are recognizing excellence in 5G mobile network experiences by awarding 5G Global Winners and 5G Global Leaders. We’re also acknowledging improvements in the 5G user experience compared to that on 4G with the 5G Global Impact category.
Our new category this year is the 5G Global Rising Stars. These awards compare how the 5G experience has changed year-on-year and recognizes the operators with the highest percentage improvements in our users’ experience.
